**EDIT: Wow, I'm astonished by the overwhelmingly positive response I've been getting from this deviation. Two days, and it's already peaked over 30 favs. Never had that before.**

Of course as soon as I upload it, I'm going to realize all the little things I missed.

Anyway, this is just a little thing I did. Started out as a sketch on paper before I scanned it in. It didn't take too long, except for lineart and refining. I got the idea for the background from :iconleithster:, who is a fabulous traditional dragon artist.

You can actually still see the sketch on this. That's what the shadow-looking textured lines are. I decided that I liked how it looked behind the dragon, and did some cropping to make it fit.

Shading this was incredibly easy. The colour I had made the skin was just perfect, and the burn tool just knew what to do. All I did was make a bunch of lines. The burn tool did all the work there.

Anyways, enjoy! As always, comments and critique are welcome and appreciated! Don't be afraid to give a negative critique! :D

I was browsing through the critiqueables and this piece stuck out to me. Thanks for listening to the little advice I can give, and allowing others to do the same.

I like the use of the frame and the pose to create depth in the drawing.

The pose is what really makes this drawing pop. If you drew a silhouette in place of the dragon, you could see why this is so interesting to look at.

With that being said, there is one friendly suggestion that I think would make this piece even more appealing.

This would be lighting. The beige and teal colors go well together, and a definite sense of directed light could help bring the viewer to a focus in your drawing.

An example would be to take advantage of the spiral form in the drawing. The path created from the head of the dragon, going right, then down the left wing, and then back up the right wing. By adding a light source coming from the top left, And adding a lesser light in the the bottom right to bring out details in the shadow, you would be able to exaggerate this spiral. Guiding the viewers eye from one point of the drawing to another.

Adding a strong light source, would also create stronger cast shadows. This would bring more depth and visual interest as well.

Again, thanks for the opportunity to help, great work, and keep on drawing!
